Due to dubious weather and lack of time because of the consequences of our neighbours fire and the resultant insurance claims etc. etc., we, Diana and David are NOT going to Longleat by train and foot. Apologies to those looking forward to it.So this rest is irrelevant for this year at least. (possibly some taxi particularly if weather forecast awful).We shall be taking the train at Temple Meads at 1149 to Frome and then (after a short pub/picnic lunch) walking about 4 miles into the Longleat Estate on Sustrans rights of way to arrive at 3pm.
At 3pm Twilight tickets are available (10% cheaper on line in advance at £19.80, companion free for registered disabled) from https://www.longleat.co.uk/festival-of-light-twilight-ticket Please buy your own (or avoid paying but you could be challenged. Tickets definitely needed for a boat ride and access to the grand (Christmassy) house and possibly into the light show area. PLEASE NOTE SAFARI PARK IS NOT OPEN FOR TWILIGHT TICKETS.
At about 5ish we head off back to Frome through the dark forest - bring torches (moonlight anything but guaranteed) to catch train at 19.06 at Frome. Back in Bristol TM for 20.09. Please let us know if you are joining us but please buy own rail tickets (£7.25 off peak day return for rail card or as a group of four both available on the day).
